Stéphanie Piette - Artiste Peintre

Biography

I was born in Paris in 1977 on Halloween day; a shame, no doubt, when you discover my artistic aspiration!

Self-taught, drawing was “THE” hobby of my childhood, my escape.

When my eldest son entered college, I gladly took up the pencil again to help him, no doubt driven by a buried desire to stroll again, then the brush in October 2019 after more than 35 years.

We should never forget what we loved to do as a child. However, I had always treasured my first easel and my first painting box, affectionately offered by my dear parents.

My passion for painting is undoubtedly born by discovering with wonder the ceiling of Chagall of the Opera Garnier and by visiting the Picasso museum.

Then, as a secondary school student, my passion for this passion is nourished and developed with the study of a painting by Georges de LA TOUR: “The Cheater with the Ace of Diamonds” and his striking set of looks.

My passion for fluorescent acrylic is more recent. Indeed, during a charity gala, the discovery of a painting by Raphael Laventure sounded like a revelation and this field of artistic expression would therefore initiate and guide the resumption of my passion.

Pushed by my husband, blinded perhaps… he offers me the material to plunge me back into this universe, my passion that I will probably never give up again, painting.

Reassured because I had already drawn it very spontaneously, I relaunched myself with the small-format painting of a pet, the English setter of my in-laws.

So encouraged by mine, I launched into the portraits of my wonders, my children. The style is "energetic and colorful", at the origin of my recovery aspirations as mentioned above.

I then pushed the exercise, more and more pleasant moreover, to the self-portrait, a very delicate perilous adventure, and whose appreciation is also just as much.

After having tested my desires, and certainly also my abilities, with family models, I decided to take a first artistic path: that of fluorescent “pop art” portraits, inspired by emblematic or memorable photos!

The use of fluorescent colors is imposed on me now to bring bodies, faces and looks to life. They are precious to me, have become obvious, to express my interpretation of the original photo; their choices, compositions and harmonies allow me to offer light and expression to the canvas.

My productions can be embellished with words, logos and messages, as in the composition of my son Elie, reminiscent of a fashion show in which he participated, of the footballer "Neymar", evoking his passion for superheroes, and of my car portrait, revisiting a magazine cover (see on my instagram account).

I can also decide to compose on the strict sketch of photographs, like that of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, or of Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie or Steve MCQueen.

My paintings will undoubtedly generate observations, questions and perhaps even discoveries; my ambition is also elsewhere since I hope that they will know how, beyond that, to give you beautiful emotions, and why not, to "engrave" you an image, of those which enrich your passion.
